Democracy at the BBC..

'Fixing the democratic deficit at the helm of our most important broadcaster is only part of the plan, though. It's the intended political consequence that makes me really happy. Is there a neater way to end the BBC's ridiculous Leftist disposition than by giving its leader a democratic mandate with which to take on what Andrew Marr refers to, somewhat disingenuously, as its "cultural bias" - as though it's an accident that nearly everyone who appears on the screen just happens to share the same reflex view of public spending, and is no more toxic than a common fondness for strawberries, or Earl Grey tea' writes Graeme Archer calling for the new Director General to be elected by licence payers. Now that's a really refreshing idea..
